MINISTRY OF JUSTICE UNVEILS NEW PLANS

Jack Straw the Justice Secretary unveiled the new structure for the Ministry of Justice that will come into effect from the 1st April.

The Ministry, originally formed in 2007, brought together The Department for Constitutional Affairs and the National Offender Management Service (then a part of the Home Office) and the Office for Criminal Justice Reform.

The key changes now, will be in the National Offender Management Service (NOMS) where H M Prison Service and the Probation Service will be brought together in NOMS under a streamlined headquarters and regional structure so as to improve the focus on frontline delivery of prisons and probation and improve efficiency.
