"Supposedly, polonium 210 can only be produced in poisoning quantities by a
nuclear facility such as would be owned only by a nation state and
delivering the death dose needs to be done in a fairly measured quantity to
avoid it acting too quickly or not fatally. If all this is true, either the
Russian secret service are in the frame or one of the monstrously rich
oligarchs might just have the resources.
At a time when Russia has just concluded negotiations to enter the WTO, is
it really ready to enter the community of nations trusted to abide by the
rule of law, honour property rights and allow the dissent necessary in a
democratic system?"
