"Today's attack on the people of Kandahar and the nation of Afghanistan was a cowardly and abhorrent act of terrorism. I offer my conolences to the Government and people of Afghanistan. There can be no justification for such an attack. I was in Kandahar last week and heard the desire of ordinary people for security and safety. This is an attack on Afghans and all friends of Afghanistan with sole aim of frightening the population and sapping will of the International Community. It is all the more important that we support the govt. of Afghanistan in pursuing those responsible and establish proper security in this and other cities"
