MAYOR CALLS IN POLICE TO INVESTIGATE ALLEGATIONS

image The Mayor of London's adviser on equality and policing, Lee Jasper, has been suspended over corruption allegations.

Ken Livingstone said he has full confidence in Mr Jasper, and has called in the  Metropolitan police to investigate the allegations so Mr Jasper can clear his name.

"I believe this investigation will exonerate Lee Jasper and show this to be a shameful campaign," the London mayor said. He claims Mr Jasper was being subjected to a trial by the media.

The Evening Standard newspaper claims organisations linked to Mr Jasper received millions of pounds in grants in return for apparently very little.
