The G8 call for Gadafi to Go

Leaders within the G8 Summit, meeting in France this week have agreed that it is time for Libyan leader Col. Muammar Gaddafi must now step down as leader. The latest voice for this was Russia who have previously criticised NATO's involvement in the campaign to oust the leader and protect the rebel disenting forces loyal to Gadafi - Russia has said that Col. Gadafi has lost all legitimacy as a leader of his country where many want him to give up power.

The G8 leaders have also expressed concern over Syria's treatment of protesters against it's own Government. \A communication has now been issued to the press following the 2 day event that expresses concern over both countries future. The wording in the communication is strong it says:"Gaddafi and the Libyan government have failed to fulfil their responsibility to protect the Libyan population and have lost all legitimacy. He has no future in a free, democratic Libya. He must go."

President Barack Obama made it clear during rthe summit that the allied military forces already deployed in Libya will remain to "finish the job".
