President Obama visit to the UK

President Barak Obama today arrived last night at Stanstead Aiport

He later visited the Queen with his wife Michelle, at the start of his first UK state visit.
He was given a 41 gun salute by the Scots guards in the grounds of Buckingham Palace and also inspect of a guard of honour with Prince Philip.
The Obamas also met Prince Charles and the Duchess of Cornwall and spent 20 minutes with newlyweds the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge.

He had an inspection of documents ffrom when Britain was a UK colony and artwork and artefacts within the Palace - he also saw the portrait of the Queen by Lucien Frued.

He also took lunch at the Palace and after attended a state meeting with the Prime Minister at Downing Street where they also had a press conference.
Mr Obama stating the relationship between the UK and the US as a 'special' one.

Mr Obama also went to Westminster Abbey to lay a wreath at the tomb of the
unknown soldier as previous US Presidents have done before.

Later he had a informal game of table tennis at an unexpected visit to a South London scholl with the Prime Minister, and later went on to meet Ed Milliband the Labour opposition leader

Mr Obama will attend a state banquet at Buckingham Palace tonight at 8.00pm where there is expected to be 170 people attending.
